Earvin-Underwood, Founder of Good Scents Oils (GSO), has been empowering people to practice self-care through skin care since 1994. Regina creates products derived from recipes inspired by her grandmother. Some of the labels still carry her name, such as Ella Mae’s Strawberry Cheesecake Body Scrub and Ella Mae’s Lemon Pound Cake Whipped Butter Cream. Inspired by her family members’ long history as entrepreneurs, Regina is blazing her own path to carry on their legacy.
2020 was a monumental year in the world and in the life of Regina M. Earvin-Underwood. While the world was experiencing a lockdown, she refused to allow her creativity to be locked down. She consistently created GSO products at home. Her path changed forever two years prior when celebrity stylist, Tym Wallace called for an order. That led to GSO products soaring to soothe the skin of more celebrities such as Mary J. Blige and Naturi Naughton. Then, in March 2020, Taraji P. Henson placed an order. She shared her GSO experience on social media. The positive feedback that Regina received from those experiences, motivated her to expand into a 10,000 sq. ft. warehouse distribution center.
Then actress, singer and songwriter Brandy was told, “You’re aging backwards!” She quickly gave a shout out to Good Scents Oils. During an interview for Glamour Magazine she was asked about her preferred exfoliator and body cream. She shared, “I found this new brand, it’s a Black-owned brand called GSO, I use the scrub and the whipped butter cream all over my body. I used to use cocoa butter, but since I found the Good Scents Oils line, I use that. It’s amazing.”
