Business Description

The story of how Soapy Wicks evolved into the amazing business it is.

When I was in my early teens, I found that soap and soap products bothered my skin. I have unusually dry skin, my scalp would have oily flaky residue left after washing my hair, no matter how long I rinsed the products out of my hair.

I tried everything to stop this from happening. It was not happening to anyone else in my family, just me. I tried washing my hair more often, less often, different shampoos, no conditioner, lots of conditioner, anyway you get the point.

When I was 18, I went to a street fair and there was a woman who had made her own soaps and they were beautiful. I explained my issue to her and she asked if I had tried all natural products, which I had not. So I bought a bar from her to give them a try. My skin felt amazing within a few weeks of using all natural products and was no longer as dry as it had been in the past. I took that as a sign that I needed to be using more natural products.

Off to the natural food store we go. I purchased some natural shampoo and conditioner, some more soaps and some toothpaste. The changes is in my skin, hair and overall health changed. It was slow going but by the time I was 19, I was using only natural products and feeling like I had figured out my skin issue.

As most of you know it can be daunting at the cash register when you shop in all natural stores. But I figured that my body was worth it and continued on. But not all soaps are alike. Even if you purchase your soap products at a natural store, you must still read the labels. Some manufactures use synthetic fragrances and some use essential oils, you need to determine what is working for you.

I found that my body does not do well with anything synthetic, I use only essential oils for me and my body. Your body might be able to tolerate some of the synthetic fragrances and be quite happy. So here in Soapy Wicks, we offer both.

I have been making handmade organic vegan soaps for over 30 years. I have perfected my recipe, my brand, and my lifestyle to accommodate my skin issues into a thriving eCommerce business that works for everyone.

As of right now, we are only eCommerce and will remain so for as long as I can. We will be attending as many street fairs as we can and also farmers markets as we can. Please message us if you know of an event and would like to see if we can attend.

We have other products too. I also make 100% soy wax candles and other bath products like, bath dust, bath salts, sugar scrubs, bath bombs, body butters, lotions, and lip balm.

If you see us out and about, please say hi! We love our customers and love to hear from you.
